Hiking on the ridges of the Swiss Jura

There are few places where the hexatrek allows itself a foray outside the limits of its hexagon, the crests of the Swiss Jura are one of them!

Higher up and closer to the Alps, on a clear day, these few days of walking in friendly territory will offer hikers a fantastic panorama with, in the distance, the Alps, the Black Forest and the Vosges

Steep cliffs, deep caves, springs, lakes, silent forests and vast pastures as well as wild fauna and flowering vegetation will be your daily life on this ridge path.

The most beautiful landscapes of the Swiss Jura

Park-like landscapes and magnificent views of Lake Geneva and the Savoyard Alps are the main features of this hike, with splendidly coloured meadows blooming between the forests.

Creux du Van

A spectacular geological curiosity, the rocky cirque of the Creux-du-Van is nicknamed the Swiss "Grand Canyon". Its circular cliffs, almost 200 metres high and 1400 metres long, rise above the wild Areuse Gorges. It is located at the end of the mythical and mysterious Val-de-Travers valley, the historical cradle of absinthe, straddling the borders of Vaud and Neuchâtel, in the Jura region of French-speaking Switzerland.

The Mont Tendre

Mont Tendre (1679 m) is the highest point of the Swiss Jura. From its summit, you can enjoy a magnificent 360-degree panorama of the Alps, the Risoud forest, Lake Geneva and the majestic Mont Blanc massif.

La Dole

Easily identified by its curious "white mushroom" at the top, the Dole massif is the highest point in this Franco-Swiss area at 1677m.

From its summit, enjoy an incredible 360° view of the Alps, Lake Geneva, the Jura Mountains and the plateau of the Station des Rousses. You will certainly come across chamois during your ascent.

The Chasseron

From Les Rochats, the ascent to Le Chasseron begins. At your feet: Lake Neuchâtel and, further south, Lake Geneva. More than 250 km of Alpine peaks can be seen on the horizon. You will reach the home of music boxes and automatons through vast pastures.

Where to sleep in the Jura Vaudois, the best refuges.

These huts, which were built for lumberjacks in search of shelter, are today authentic places of meeting and friendship, scattered along the forest paths.

Some huts have names that make you travel, such as La Marocaine, La Turque or L'Hôtel d'Italie.

Others refer to their environment: La Racine, Les Fougères or L'Ecorce. In all, there are more than a hundred forest refuges in the Vallée de Joux, spread over the slopes of Mont-Tendre and in the Risoud forest.

Cunay hut

The Cunay hut is located in the Vallée de Joux, along the Crêtes "Marchairuz-Mt-Tendre-Mollendruz"; more precisely, it is situated on the hill between the Combes chalet and the Grand Cunay.

It belongs to the Vallée de Joux section of the SAC.

Le Bon Accueil

A bus from the beginning of the last century converted into a refuge with wood-burning heating!

An unusual stop in this magical bus surrounded by green nature.

Cabane Perrenoud

Located on the heights of the Creux-du-Van, the Perrenoud hut is an emblematic hut of the Jura.

From its terrace, on a clear day, you can see the entire Alpine massif, from the Savoy Alps to Eastern Switzerland. And if you're lucky, you'll be able to see the Geneva water jet!
